the Holy Scriptures

“Holy Scripture containeth all things necessary to salvation: so that whatsoever is not read therein, nor may be proved thereby, is not to be required of any man, that it should be believed as an article of the Faith, or be thought requisite or necessary to salvation” (Article VI of the Thirty-Nine Articles).

the creeds

We confess the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed, which “ought thoroughly to be received and believed: for they may be proved by most certain warrants of Holy Scripture” (Article VIII of the Thirty-Nine Articles).

the Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion

The Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion are the historical doctrinal statements of the Church of England, finalized in 1571. They defined Anglican doctrine at the time of the English Reformation, and we believe that they still contain “the true doctrine of the Church agreeing with God’s Word and … authoritative for Anglicans today” (Jerusalem Declaration 4).

the Jerusalem Declaration

The Jerusalem Declaration is a statement of the Christian faith as the Anglican Church has received it, issued by the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON) in 2008. The Jerusalem Declaration is the standard for membership at The Good Shepherd Anglican Church.
