WHAT IS THIS ABOUT?

As Christians we desire to have our minds renewed by Christian Truth. As 21st century Americans we are altogether too busy. Semester-length classes can be difficult to sustain. Book study participants rarely make it to the end of the book. As Christians we desire to love God with all our minds, but where are the intellectual spaces where profound thinking can be savored? This is where the First Friday Forum comes in. It is a new attempt to answer some of the unique needs of the Christian mind today in our own parish setting. First Friday Forums will be on the First Friday of each month (surprise!) at 5.30pm here at the Church. Each Forum will begin with appetizers and drinks for a social half-hour, and then at 6pm, a one-hour lecture will be presented. Each forum will feature a different speaker who will present winsomely on a topic in which they are passionately and deeply engaged. Many speakers will be from amidst our parish, but outside speakers will be brought in as well. As part of the lecture, a book for those who wish to explore the topic further will be recommended. Participants will then be encouraged to go out in small groups to local restaurants for dinner, dessert, or drinks to discuss the ideas presented (this part is optional, not a part of the event in itself).
